BYE BYE SUMMER

Summer is over and for ARIEL2 it is time to leave Helsinki and the Baltic Sea. Transat Jacques Vabre Co-Skipper Mikey Ferguson is flying to Helsinki today and the delivery sailing to Gosport is expected to begin asap.

It was beginning of June ARIEL2 arrived in Finland. Right after the 2000NM IMOCA Globe Series Bermudes1000 race. Sailing with happy partners and media, participating in Suursaari Race, Uiva and Helsinki Tallinna Race where the highlights. In Helsinki Tallinna Race we won the title of the best average speed even we sailed in the double-handed class – Janne Kjellman as my super co-skipper.

So, that’s what team ARIEL2 has been up to this summer. Plus of course all the maintenance work which never ends.

Getting the ARIEL2’s old B&G system totally renewed was the biggest operation of all. Took plus four weeks. The system was upgraded to B&G’s H5000. Both autopilots, two processors, instruments. Everything got new and of course the cabling, too. Special big hand go to Timo Hakakoski and Roba Nyberg for handling this challenge.
